Presentation

First Session — Learning
We will look into how tiles have been used throughout history to adorn our interior and exterior worlds. Then it's clay time as we run through a variety of making techniques for creating images on and with tiles, texturing the surface as we go.

Second Session — Making
This is the session where you make your tiles! You can bring a set design with you, or respond and experiment on the night. We will be focussing on the techniques learned in the first session to make a piece, or pieces, that you will complete the following week.

Third Session — Glazing
You will return to 'biscuit fired' tiles which are ready for glazing. Matt will run through some basic glazing techniques that will allow you to bring colour to your creations! These will then be fired again to complete your tile roller-coaster.

Colourful coasters
18.12.2016

@rhiansutcliffe produced this range of coasters over the three week tile-making course. Love how the imprints have forced the clay outwards changing the square tiles into a much more interesting form! Finished off with a fun palette of glaze which pools beautifully in the indentations!
